Arts Award Silver

Arts Award Silver is a Level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Completing Arts Award Silver involves achieving an arts challenge, reviewing arts events, researching artists and arts organisations, and delivering an arts leadership project with other people. Silver has been designed for young people aged 14 to 25.

Young people need to plan their work with an Arts Award Adviser, and keep a record by creating their own Arts Award portfolio. Their portfolio can take any form such as a folder, sketchbook, video diary or a website.

Silver has two units – Unit 1: arts practice and Unit 2: arts leadership.

Unit 1:

Arts challenge: Young people set themselves a challenge in their chosen arts activity through discussion with their adviser. They plan their work and then review their achievements.

Arts review: Young people record their views regarding a piece of art, collect programmes and other information and share their thoughts with others.

Arts research: Young people find out about artists and arts activities in theirr area and beyond, and research arts training and opportunities.

Unit 2:

Arts leadership: Young people share their skills with others by leading workshops or working in a team to run a project. Their role could involve passing on arts or media skills or taking charge of a particular creative aspect. They have responsibility for planning, delivering and reviewing the arts leadership project.

Young people should require an estimated 95 hours of learning to complete the award, a mix of guided and independent work.
