We at IVE have commissioned Heritage Corner to facilitate a series of six free online sessions to:
The emphasis is on you! We will provide a supportive peer learning environment, focused on creative expression and self development, with practical application in the classroom.
We’ll kick off with one of Heritage Corner’s award winning Leeds Black History Walks, in person. Then, over 6 weeks, Heritage Corner will host a series of online workshops which include details about hidden African and Asian history and encourage you to examine potentially challenging subject matter in a supportive and non confrontational environment. This subject matter is used to explore creative expression and encourage you to challenge yourselves with new creative methods.
Of the six twilight sessions, the first three will provide information, encourage a supportive forum for discussion and explore practical application of new knowledge. The final three sessions are flexible to match the cohort, we will examine creativity in the classroom and your experimentation; reflecting on hits and misses and ways forward.
Knowledge, collaboration and fun are high on the agenda, CPD should not be a chore!

Feedback from participants of the Creative Approaches to Hidden Narratives Nov 2020 – Feb 2021 co-hort:
“It was interesting, informative and most importantly, has provided me and our school with the impetus to rethink and redesign our curriculum. From discussions with the Headteacher after each session, we have embarked on a journey to provide children at our school a diverse curriculum.”
“I just wanted to say thank you for the informative and insightful sessions. As a school both myself and another Senior Leader, have appointed two staff as Cultural Ambassadors to embark on developing further cultural diversity across the school.”
“The pace [of the sessions] was excellent. Vanessa’s approach made me feel safe to ask any questions and her subject knowledge was phenomenal.”
