The Early Years Creative Cookbook: Six recipes to inspire creative development in early years settings, collects creative development projects from West Yorkshire and presents them in the form of recipes to inspire others to cook up similar experiments.
Each of the settings worked across staff, children, and sometimes parents; supported by a Creative Practitioner and a Creative Agent. The six settings collaborated in a network instigated by the Early Years Learning Consultants for Calderdale, enabling the early years and creative practitioners to share their thinking and practice, explore creative ways to build more meaningful early learning environments and learn about the opportunities to nurture children’s creativity within early years pedagogy. By sharing and listening together, the professionals were able to build on their learning, exploring common challenges and alternative approaches and ideas with people they could trust. Settings documented their processes through a range of journals, videos, meetings, discussion notes and interviews.
