Artlink West Yorkshire

Artlink West Yorkshire is an arts & health charity. We provide imaginative arts projects to enhance wellbeing & creative opportunities for both younger & older people, together with professional artists across a huge array of artistic media.

Through our creative projects, individuals will experience the transformative power of the arts in order to make positive changes in their lives. Based in a converted Victorian terraced house, our facilities include warm and attractive workshop spaces and a community garden. Much of our work also takes place in community settings where we build long-term meaningful relationships with both participants and support staff.

Through person-centred arts workshops we enable people to find their own creativity, using the arts for self-expression, greater confidence and motivation, improved mental health and wellbeing, improved communication skills and engaging more positively with others.

Over the years, we have worked with schools, pupil referral units, CAHMS, Leeds Youth Offending Service and Barnardo’s Willow Young Carers Project. Our most recent school projects include: a five-year project with Bramley Primary School and Bramley Fulfilling Lives exploring disability awareness through drama, movement and filmmaking; and our recent partnership with Mount St Mary’s Catholic High School and Richmond Hill Fulfilling Lives asking ‘What’s it like to walk in someone else’s shoes?’ through performance, short stories and the visual arts.

Artlink is proud to be an Arts Award Supporter venue. This means we offer activities that can support young people to gain an Arts Award (Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver of Gold).

We offer a range of artist-led creative workshops including different art forms. These might be visual arts, theatre and drama, textile, dance, creative writing or film, to name but a few.

We have experience in supporting groups with special needs and young people facing challenges. Our fully equipped building is an excellent venue for Arts Award, celebrations, exhibitions, workshops or events. We can also offer volunteering and artist shadowing opportunities.
