Grimm & Co

Grimm & Co is a Yorkshire literacy charity with a mission to change lives, one story at a time. We provide immersive and innovative learning experiences for children and young people, aged 7-18, unleashing imaginations through the joyful discovery of stories. Our child-led approach aims to build participants’ literacy and creativity skills, confidence, capacity and self-belief.

All of our programmes and workshops embed the 7 Quality Principles to support schools in achieving their Artsmark Award. We plan to work with the school, incorporating the context of their children into our workshops in order to uphold inclusivity for all. Our methodology and approach was created on a bed of research, which showed the enhanced investment from children and young people when they were placed in the role of the expert. Due to this, all of our workshops are child-led and result in a high-quality output.

Covid-19 update: Grimm & Co are still open for business and we are still able to provide services at this time. We are working with Covid-19 guidelines set out by Public Health England and our Funders to ensure safety for all. We have moved the majority of our creative programme onto online platforms and created a wealth of resources that are free for all to use on our website.

However, the 2020/2021 academic year is a very exciting time for Grimm & Co and we hope to reach out to as many children and young people in the region as possible! We have just moved into our new destination venue and in the near future we will be able to offer an incredibly magical multi-sensory experience for people of all ages. Not only that, but Grimm & Co are going mobile! We have commissioned for the creation of an immersive and interactive theatre space that can travel to schools where we will deliver creative writing sessions. As well as this, we also have our Fantastical FloB-mobile – a mystical trailer filled with potions and elixirs from our apothecary that can be transported to schools and educational facilities!
