I am a freelance digital artist specialising in animation and filmmaking. I offer stop motion animation workshops to schools, museums, galleries, and special needs learning providers.
Making stop motion animation is an exciting and fulfilling creative activity that can be applied to topics across the curriculum, offering opportunities for positive engagement and a sense of individual achievement. The process of stop motion provides instant feedback, allowing for innovation, creative skills development, and self-directed learning and can also be used as a therapeutic focus activity to aid concentration and relaxation.
Children can tell their own animated stories using drawings, cutouts, clay, or everyday objects. My short workshops encourage peer learning and collaboration in groups of up to 8 participants. I also offer film making services and co-production support for larger scale animation projects involving whole classes or year groups and even ‘exchange workshops’ linking with other schools via Zoom.
My ‘Walk/Cycle Studio’ is a low-carbon, lightweight stop motion studio in a backpack, catering for schools in the Sheffield area. I provide all the cameras and software and the children bring along recycled materials and creativity.
