Tell Tale Hearts – An international touring theatre company that specialises in playing with stories and different ways of sharing them with young children and families.
We promote accessibility of theatre to children through devising pieces that appeal to children of mixed ability and cultural background.
“A unique form of interactive theatre for the very young.” – The Guardian
Through exploring new genres in theatre for children, we hope to push the boundaries of what is children’s theatre and how it is perceived.
The company has an incredible 20 year track record and has always worked closely with educational settings to research ideas for new shows with both children and teachers.
“The ideas were wonderful, very engaging for the target group, totally opening up imaginative journeys for little ones.” – Ruth Churchill Dower, Earlyarts UK
Through a unique mix of creativity and interactivity we aim to give children the opportunity to inhabit the many magical worlds of our different stories.

A Lady, A Suitcase, A Lifetime of Stories from Around the Globe
Tell Tale Hearts uses participatory stories and performances to support young children’s personal, social and emotional learning; communication and language, and their understanding of the world. The interaction is carefully facilitated to ensure children are encouraged to manage their behaviour and feelings within a group, develop positive relationships and empathy through imagination and playful activities.
“Tell Tale Hearts present truly inspiring shows for children that involve the audience in a uniquely thrilling way.” – Ian McMillan – national poet
One Suitcase can tell a thousand stories….. Especially when it belongs to this magical lady. Journey around the world with our well travelled friend as she regales you with tales of fisherman, fairies, feasts and beasts – from Yorkshire, through Poland, Africa and onto India.
Using only the contents of her suitcase (and a little bit of magic) she creates landscapes of mountains and jungles, costumes for shepherds and kings and finds unique ways to bring the children into the heart of each story.
