Climate Change

In response to requests from young people

challenges, IVE have developed their
Applied Creativity Lab model.

IVE worked with European partners in the UK, Latvia, Bulgaria, Belgium,
Portugal and Spain to enable as many young people as possible to find new ways to reduce carbon emissions and the impact of climate change, giving them both a voice and agency to act.

In Bradford, 55% of the population faces air pollution levels exceeding EU guidelines. Certain areas exceed legal nitrogen dioxide limits, which contribute to health problems and worsen respiratory conditions like asthma. Research by Born in Bradford Breathes indicates that up to 687 childhood asthma cases may be linked to air pollution in just one year.

Ignite Yorkshire was one of 12 projects selected for the National Lottery Heritage Fund's Kick the Dust program, which aims to make heritage relevant to a broader range of young people aged 11-25 across the UK.

Sustainability

industrial heritage narratives of people
of colour in Yorkshire.

As part of their participation in the above
programme, students were asked to
respond to a series of statements linked to
the Applied Creativity Lab programme.
These questions were administered by the
programme team as part of the first workshop session, and again as part of the final programme event. The bank of questions focused on understanding linked to enterprise and creativity, the environment and skill development.
