Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP) Associate for Calderdale

Aims of contract:

To support IVE in the continued development of the Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP) in Calderdale. During 2021-22 you will support the LCEP to become self-sufficient, with strong local leadership, ensuring the continuation of a pro-active cross-sector partnership which exists to improve and increase the local cultural education offer for children and young people.

This is a freelance strategic role with IVE. Impartiality in the local area is key. As such, we seek someone who is not currently employed by an LCEP member organisation.

Person specification:

We are looking for a strategic lead, who understands the importance of cultural education in the life of young people and who can articulate this in a clear and strategic fashion.

We are looking for an advocate and strategist who can work with the partnership and with educational, public services and the arts and cultural fields to develop a shared vision of consistent, accessible and high quality cultural opportunities for the young people of the city. The role will require diplomacy and negotiating skills.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the existing cultural and education infrastructure in Calderdale. They will have strong relationship-building abilities and experience of partnership working, be an effective supporter of cross-sector collaboration, and be an articulate and persuasive advocate.

Specific roles:

To support the Local Cultural Education Partnership to

To advocate for IVE as the Arts Council England’s Bridge organisation and ensure that it has visibility within the partnership.

To liaise and work with IVE’s West Yorkshire team to ensure clear communication of the LCEPs development and any priorities and/or issues arising.

The Cultural Education Challenge

In response to Arts Council England’s Cultural Education Challenge IVE is working across Yorkshire and the Humber to establish Local Cultural Education Partnerships. We want to ensure every child and young person has access to a consistent offer of high quality arts and cultural education. Each partnership will reflect the identity and needs of its own local area. We are bringing partners together to help them establish a shared approach to removing identified barriers to access to arts and culture faced by children and young people in their local community.

Calderdale LCEP

Calderdale LCEP launched as a consortium, managed by The Creative Learning Guild, in October 2018 following a consultation and visioning exercise with the sector. Due to the winding up of the Creative Learning Guild and in the light of the impact of COVID-19, Calderdale LCEP is regrouping. The LCEP Associate will lead on governance, strategy and planning in line with the outcomes previously agreed by members:

Agreed daily rate:

£300 per day for 20 days work

Plus travel costs for travel within the region when applicable
